 Easter Sunday in Palmetto: 42 New Confirmations;

‘Twas a day of joy, great gladness and a spectacular sight to see!
As the saying goes, good and great things can indeed spring up from small and strong beginnings. Certainly, this was true at St. Mary’s Church on Easter Morn and Midday in Palmetto. God smiled down upon His people at St. Mary’s in The Memorial Garden Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m.; then at the 10 a.m. Mass in the church sanctuary itself; and once more at the 1 p.m. Hispanic service.

Many strong and faithful souls joined Fr. Glen Graczyk at 6:30 a.m. in The Garden to celebrate Our Lord’s Resurrection and to watch His sun rise once again on Easter morn. At 10 a.m., with Fr. Glen Celebrating, some 150 parishioners & believers strong joyfully united in song and in prayer, heard God’s word once anew, and shared together once more Christ’s body and blood and watched their own spirits and lives rise once again together with Our Lord’s risen body and life.

At the 1 p.m. Hispanic Mass-First Communion-Confirmation Service, Bishop Michael Garrison Celebrated; Fr. Dick Lampert, Hispanic Missioner, assisted; with Fr. Glen Graczyk, St. Mary’s Priest-In-Charge and The Rev. Canon Dennis McManis from the Diocesan staff both participating. Also assisting was St. Mary’s new Youth Group.

Forty two children and youth and adult candidates stepped forward to receive their First Communion, Confirmation, and Reaffirm their faith. Both Fr. Lampert in Presenting, and Bishop Garrison in Blessing and Confirming and Reaffirming, agreed that this was the “largest class” of first communicants and confirmations and reaffirmations both had ever had. The Church was packed with over three hundred people and only standing room left in the rear. The pure sense of joy, excitement and the abiding presence of God’s Holy Spirit was overwhelming.

On April 20, 2014 on Easter Sunday Day in Palmetto, Florida, God smiled down upon His People and their hearts were filled again with His joy and gladness.
